The latest installment of the cult comic about the adventures of Asterix and Obelix is definitely a success. It is a funny film with many excellent moments and ideas. This time, the two famous Gauls resist Caesar not through armed action, but by facing the challenge of an economic war. The Romans build a magnificent village next to the Gauls’ settlement, intended for Roman owners. This Estate of the Gods means that the Gallic friends must resist the temptation of profit and Roman comfort. The film conveys an important message to its youngest viewers: it shows that money is not the most important thing in life, and that civilization does not always have to triumph over nature.
The Polish film “Disco Polo”, meanwhile, is set in the 1990s, when freedom arrived on the banks of the Vistula and all of Poland dreamed the American dream. The great transformation and gold rush are under way, dreams come true: “from zero to Rockefeller”. In this atmosphere, young musicians from the provinces, Tomek and Rudy, driven by passion and dreams, leave behind their grey reality and set out to conquer the disco polo hit charts. The film features, among others, Dawid Ogrodnik, Piotr Głowacki, Tomasz Kot and Joanna Kulig.
In addition to the premieres, “Fifty Shades of Grey” and “Samba” will continue to be screened for another week. Details are available on the Kino Forum website.
