The scenario was always the same: the woman called someone and offered them the opportunity to take advantage of a promotion from one of the digital television providers. All they had to do, the fraudster explained, was buy a decoder costing between PLN 300 and 500, in which case they would receive a one-year television subscription.

If the person agreed to the “promotion”, a few minutes later a fake courier contacted them and arranged to deliver the decoder.

Everything happened so quickly that the victims often did not even have time to check whether the information they were given was true. The Wrocław couple would probably have continued getting away with the scheme if not for a retired police officer, who immediately called the company the couple allegedly represented and asked whether it really offered such a promotion. It turned out that nobody from the company had called him.

So when a “courier” knocked on the former officer’s door, police officers were already waiting for him.

As established, the couple operated throughout the Lower Silesian Voivodeship from September last year until February. They defrauded dozens of people. If you are among them, contact the police: tel. 76 876 15 20 or 76 876 14 01.
