The first drinking fountain was placed in the corridor outside the gym. The second quenches thirst in the common room. After physical education classes, a line of students forms at the water source.
– The water tastes very good – says Norbert Ostrowski from class 5b. – It is a really great idea, because when someone feels thirsty, the water source is nearby. All you have to do is press the button.
What is the water from Legnica’s waterworks like? – I assure you that it is of very good quality and meets all sanitary standards – says Jacek Watral, the district sanitary inspector. – We monitor its quality all the time. It can be drunk without boiling. The inspector emphasizes that the drinking fountains have another important advantage. No cups are needed to have a drink. When drinking, one does not touch the fittings with one’s lips, thus avoiding infection.
The school principal, Sebastian Miecierz, makes no secret of his satisfaction: – Parents asked us to install water dispensers. Quite simply, we could not afford such drinking fountains. This gift is very important to us.
By installing drinking fountains at Primary School No. 19, LPWiK has launched a promotional campaign encouraging people to drink water directly from Legnica’s taps. – We plan such investments in other schools – says Zbigniew Mróz, president of the municipal company. – The same devices have been installed at the Medical Center on Libana Street and at the company’s headquarters.
