The sculpture classes are intended for people aged 16 and over, with no upper age limit. They will be held every Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the BOK-MCC ceramic studio at plac Piłsudskiego. The first meeting will take place on February 8. The classes are free of charge.
Czesław Matyjewicz graduated from the State Higher School of Fine Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts), Faculty of Sculpture in Wrocław. After completing his studies, he worked as an assistant in the Faculty of Sculpture at the same institution. In the 1990s, he worked on stonework and conservation projects, initially at the Historic Monument Conservation Workshop and later at the “GROSSULAR” company, which he co-founded. He participated in the restoration of the stonework decoration of Edith Stein’s chapel.
From 1995 to 2005, he ran a sculpture and drawing studio at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre. During that time, he also served as commissioner of the Children’s and Youth Ceramic and Sculpture Plein-Air Workshops. He has participated many times in International Ceramic and Sculpture Plein-Air Workshops.
He presented his work at numerous group exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Bolesławiec (BOK-MCC, Museum of Ceramics), Bolków (Castle), Česki Krumlov, Kliczków (Castle), Kraków (Bunkier Sztuki), Książ (Castle Gallery), Legnica (BWA), Poznań (Castle), Warsaw (Ochota Cultural Centre), Wrocław (Ossolineum, Town Hall), Praha (Polish Cultural Institute), Dresden, Berlin (Polonia Haus), Nowogrodziec (Municipal Cultural and Sports Centre), Parzyce (Creative Work House), and Zgorzelec (Cultural Centre).
