After a serious illness, Andrzej Idzik, a physics, astronomy and computer science teacher at I Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Bolesławiec, has died. He was 52. This is how he is remembered by the school administration, teaching staff and school community:

A graduate of I LO (1976–80), a recipient of the Helena and Wincenty Tyrankiewicz Scholarship, and a physics, astronomy and computer science teacher at our school since 1991. A wonderful teacher, educator and a modern-day “Renaissance man.” His knowledge and interests extended far beyond the subjects he taught. He could speak with equal enthusiasm about the intricacies of the cosmos and the laws of physics, as well as history, art and economics. To his students, he was a model of a true educator who not only shared his vast knowledge with passion, but also awakened their curiosity about the world and inspired them to pursue their own scientific research. He devoted every free moment to working with students, helping his pupils achieve nationwide scientific success in physics and technology. He infected others with his sense of humour and perfectionism, but also with his perspective on many matters. He taught young people critical thinking and how to make responsible decisions. He was a “one-man institution” whom anyone could turn to for help. He inspired trust and made both the students and the teaching staff feel that their work was of great value to him. Even when he began his battle with illness, he tried to take part in school life, supporting us with his experience and knowledge.

The farewell Mass will be held on Friday, January 30, at 7:00 a.m. at the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius on Łasicka Street in Bolesławiec. The funeral ceremony will take place that same day at the Bolesławiec municipal cemetery. It will begin at 1:00 p.m..

The Istotne.pl editorial team extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
