The Bolesławiec Municipal Culture and Sports Centre invited puzzle enthusiasts to take part in the 9th “MAUPa” Marathon in mid-January. After registration for the competition was announced online, the list filled up immediately. Several teams are waiting in reserve, hoping to replace anyone who withdraws from the competition.
The undisputed favourite of the marathon is Grupa Pościgowa, which has been winning the competition since 2009 and has yet to meet its match. Agnieszka Kołodziej, Bożena Wieczorek, Karolina Wieczorek and Natalia Kołodziej took 6 hours and 48 minutes last year to complete the 1,500-piece Castorland puzzle.
The event’s main sponsor is the puzzle manufacturer Castor from Kraków. Last year, the competitors assembled a snowy panther, which caused many problems and refused to come together quickly. This year’s design is still a secret.
