The incident took place on January 11 at around 6:00 p.m. at one of the stores in Jelenia Góra. The 43-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra threatened a security guard with a hammer, saying he would kill him. The security guard notified the police.
A patrol consisting of a police officer and a municipal police officer went to the scene. The officers noticed the aggressor sitting on one of the benches. The 43-year-old had hidden the hammer in the sleeve of his jacket.
As it turned out, the “hammer man” was drunk; he had almost 2 per mille of alcohol in his system. The man was taken into police custody. He faces up to three years in prison.
