These events are addressed both to history and music enthusiasts. By taking part in the extensive programme, participants will be able to learn more about the history of Stalag VIII A and the history of the city of Zgorzelec-Goerlitz itself during the Second World War. In addition, those interested in music will be able to deepen their knowledge of the work of Olivier Messiaen (pictured – editor’s note “ii”) and learn about the circumstances surrounding the creation of his world-famous work “Quartet for the End of Time” at Stalag VIII A.

During the lectures, the organisers provide childcare. All events will be held in Polish and German, which is why Meetingpoint Music Messiaen invites residents from both sides of the Neisse.

Tickets for the accompanying programme can be purchased directly before each event at the museums and institutions participating in the project, as well as at the Meetingpoint Music Messiaen e.V. office, Demianiplatz 40, Goerlitz, or by calling 49 3581 661 269.

The project partners are: Kulturhistorisches Museum Goerlitz, Stadtbibliothek Goerlitz, Ratsarchiv, Senckenberg Museum für Naturkunde, Schlesisches Museum zu Goerlitz, Muzeum Łużyckie w Zgorzelcu, Kino Poza Nova w Zgorzelcu and ZSZiL in Zgorzelec.
