The Third TKKF Bench Press Championships were held in the sports hall on Komuny Paryskiej Street. A dozen or so competitors took part in Saturday’s event, divided into three age categories. In the Junior category for competitors under 20, Michał Eichstadt won. His result was 115 kg at a body weight of 85.7 kg. Bartosz Polenceusz (who pressed 90 kg) and Piotr Kręzel (who pressed 110 kg) took the next places.
In the Senior category for competitors aged 21 to 40, Krzysztof Andreasik proved unbeatable. He pressed a barbell weighing 207.5 kg while weighing 89.7 kg himself. This was Krzysztof Andreasik’s second consecutive victory in the Bolesławiec competition. A year earlier, the competitor from Złotoryja pressed 205 kg. Andrzej Kocyła (who pressed 180 kg) and Zbigniew Klimek (who pressed 165 kg) took the next places in this category. In the Senior category for competitors over 40, Bogusław Mienculewicz took first place. His result was 170 kg at a body weight of 119.5 kg. Zbigniew Szymański (who pressed 140 kg) and Marek Drozdek (who pressed 120 kg) finished in the next places. The title of “Strongest Bolesławiec Resident” was also awarded during Saturday’s competition. Sławomir Purta won the title after pressing 131.5 kg at a body weight of 73 kg.
The order of places was determined by scores calculated using the Wilks formula. This means that competitors were assessed in relation to their body weight. A fixed coefficient is assigned to each body weight. This coefficient multiplied by the weight lifted (pressed) by a competitor gives the total number of points for the final classification.
