They were accompanied by their parents and instructors. President Tadeusz Krzakowski congratulated the guests on their artistic achievements and thanked them for their work, which perfectly promotes our city on stages across the country and Europe. He thanked the children’s parents for their tremendous commitment to the group’s activities.
“We are all striving to ensure that Legnica continues to change for the better, so that life and living here become increasingly comfortable. We care for the city just as your parents care for your future and development,” the president said.
On behalf of the entire group, New Year’s greetings were offered by Monika Kuligowska, founder and instructor of the Złote Dzieci dance group. She also announced that young dancers from Legnica would represent our country and city at an international children’s and youth arts festival in Paris in August.
The Złote Dzieci group, operating at the “Kopernik” Cooperative Cultural Centre, is one of Legnica’s cultural symbols. Last year, it celebrated its twentieth anniversary. During that time, it achieved many great successes and won numerous awards and distinctions. Approximately 180 children and young people attend its classes, divided into six groups—from the youngest, five-year-olds, to older participants—secondary-school students and university students.
Karol Tondos has been dancing in the group for 11 years. “I started when I was still in my mother’s belly, because she is an instructor in the group,” Karol said. “It’s a wonderful adventure. We travel a lot.” “I like it very much too,” adds Nikola Bilińska, Karol’s peer. “I have been dancing in the group for two years and I really enjoy it, because I don’t sit around doing nothing at home.”
