The Legnica Housing Management Board has signed an agreement with Father Jan Mateusz Gacek, parish priest of the Parish of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, to lend premises renovated by the city at 15 Dmowskiego Street for the new location of a charity canteen for those most in need.

As Father Gacek reports, the new canteen will begin serving meals in mid-January 2015. Currently, people in need receive assistance at the old canteen on Kamienna Street.

Let us recall that in the second half of June, the Housing Management Board awarded the tender for renovating the premises on Dmowskiego Street. The work began in the summer and was completed in November. The renovation was financed from the city budget. Its cost amounted to PLN 430,000.

The work included, among other things, adapting the premises for use as a canteen, replacing the installations, installing heating, and equipping the facility with appliances for preparing meals. Several hundred people use the charity canteen's assistance every year. For many years, the city has co-financed its operations with PLN 60,000.
