The incident occurred on New Year's Eve, at around 8:00 a.m., in Jelenia Góra, in the Zabobrze housing estate. The 51-year-old man tried to enter his common-law partner's apartment. When she refused to open the door, the aggressor threatened to kill her and began hitting the door with a tool resembling a firefighter's axe.
The woman called her ex-husband for help. After arriving at the scene, he tried to calm the attacker down. Without success. This further enraged the 51-year-old, who began threatening to kill both the assaulted woman's ex-husband and her neighbours, who were also trying to silence the vandal.
The latter, in fact, notified the police. The officers placed the 51-year-old in custody. It turned out that he was drunk. He had approximately one per mille of alcohol in his blood.
On New Year's Day, the man was remanded in custody for two months. He faces up to five years in prison.
