It will take place from 16 to 18 January 2015. in the concert halls of the partner music schools and at the Municipal Cultural Centre in Zgorzelec.
The competition’s popularity and standing among young musicians grow every year. This year saw a record number of applications—nearly 300 candidates. However, in accordance with the regulations, 100 pianists were admitted in the solo category, as well as 40 musicians in the duets and chamber ensembles category. The fourteenth edition will feature instrumentalists from Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria. They will compete in 6 age categories for attractive prizes funded by local governments, companies and organizations.
The aim of the competition is to promote piano music, particularly among children and young people. The competition is held in three categories: solo piano, piano duets and chamber ensembles. Participants will be assessed by distinguished professors from music academies in Poland and Germany. The international jury will deliberate simultaneously on both sides of the border. In this year’s edition, younger groups will perform in Zgorzelec, while older participants will play in Goerlitz.
The 14th International Piano Competition will conclude with the Winners’ Concert on 18 January 2015. in the auditorium of the Municipal Cultural Centre in Zgorzelec at 3:00 p.m.. The main prizes and a number of special prizes will then be presented, including the Special Prizes of the Starosta of Zgorzelecki County and the Special Prizes of the Mayor of Zgorzelec.
