The idea of competing in the Polish championships Krzysztof Szymański and Mateusz Janczyszyn came up with it several weeks ago. – It all started with football training, our favourite sport and form of training. We were happy when the coach told us: you have a moment for yourselves, and that is how footnet training began, along with the idea of competing in the Polish championships in this discipline – says Mateusz Janczyszyn. Let us recall that both players are footballers for Leśnik Osiecznica on a daily basis, and previously played, among others, for BKS Bolesławiec, where they came through the youth system. They practise footnet in a gym or, when the weather permits, at the municipal stadium. They named themselves Happy Feelings Bolesławiec.
The Polish championships in Bełchatów are not the only plans the Bolesławiec players have related to footnet. Footnet is a discipline with two variants: Futnet – footnet played over a low net on a hard surface, and Footvolley – beach footnet. – For next summer, we are planning to compete in a beach footnet tournament, where the net is suspended higher than in the indoor version – explains Krzysztof Szymański. – We also hope to attract sports fans in our city to this discipline and that we will be able to organise a footnet tournament in Bolesławiec – he adds.
The Polish Footnet Championship will take place on 27–28 December at Hala Energia in Bełchatów. Happy Feelings Bolesławiec has been placed in Group B. Their group opponents will include the hosts, as well as teams from Łódź and Gorzów Śląski.
Footnet is a game in which two teams return the ball over a net positioned 1.1 metres above the ground. The ball may be touched with any part of the body except the hands. Footnet has three disciplines: singles, doubles and triples. In Poland, singles and doubles are the most popular. More about footnet.
