In 2012, a regular presentation of sculptures and objects in the public space next to the BWA Gallery in Jelenia Góra was launched. At the “MONOLITHOS” One-Object Gallery, a work of art is placed on a plinth adjoining the Gallery on the Długa Street side, thus gaining an excellent exhibition location and becoming an interesting element enriching the appearance of the city’s old town.
The first object in this mini-gallery was a work by the artist from Borowice, Ewa Jonas – a free-standing, over two-metre-high sculpture made of lime wood, entitled “Jeloń”. The sculpture’s exhibition will soon come to an end. Therefore, the director of the Biuro Wystaw Artystycznych, Janina Hobgarska, invites artists to submit designs for sculptures or objects of a durable nature (i.e. works resistant to outdoor conditions).
“We invite people who would like to present their work in the very centre of the city to submit their works. The project is being carried out with the financial participation of the City of Jelenia Góra,” BWA employees say. “The proposals will be considered by the Artistic Council.”
