As established, Łukasz K. moved in with his grandfather Stanisław N. in Łomnica. On the morning of August 22 this year, K. went downstairs from the upper floor to his grandfather’s room and then, for no apparent reason, began hitting him on the head and face with his hands. After beating his victim, the perpetrator began wiping blood from the floor and poured water over the injured man.
After the incident, Łukasz K. left the house and headed toward Jelenia Góra.
At around 4:00 p.m., he was detained by his cousin Tomasz M., whom he told that he had “beaten his grandfather so he would live longer.”
As a result of the beating, Stanisław N. suffered serious head and facial injuries. Łukasz K. confessed to the assault.
Experts ruled that K. is mentally ill and therefore did not commit a crime and will not incur criminal liability. However, both the experts and the prosecutor agreed that the perpetrator poses a serious threat to public order. It was therefore determined that K. needed to be hospitalized in a closed psychiatric ward.
