The pearl of Żeliszów—the former Evangelical church—has fascinated artists for years, as we have reported on our website many times. These artists include Patryk Kizny, the creator of the film “The Chapel,” and Mayu B, a musician from Osiecznica (the music video for the song “Solitude” was filmed in the ruins of the Żeliszów church; the clip was created by Szymon Wasylów).
As it turned out, the Żeliszów church inspired Patryk Kizny so deeply that he returned to it in his latest film, “Rebirth,” which has been available online since Tuesday, December 16.
The filmmaker said the following in an interview with “Gazeta Wyborcza”
In 2010, we were looking for a location for a short film and came across photographs of the interior of the church in Żeliszów. I went there, and it took my breath away. This place inspired me. I felt that the first film about the church—“The Chapel”—had not fully used the potential of the location and the subject.
