Bolesławiec beekeepers celebrated the 60th anniversary of beekeeping in the Bolesławiec area on December 13. On this occasion, they honored those who contribute to the development of beekeeping and support the growth of the association in our city.
The highest beekeeping distinctions, the “Rev. Dr. Jan Dzierżon Medals,” were presented first for services to beekeeping. They were awarded by the president of the Polish Beekeepers’ Association to the mayor of Bolesławiec, Piotr Roman, the mayor of Nowogrodziec and the head of Bolesławiec Municipality, Andrzej Dutkowski.
After a speech by the association’s president, Piotr Żądło, and the presentation of the most important distinctions, the beekeeping community received gold, silver and bronze beekeeping badges. To mark the anniversary, the association produced a commemorative medal celebrating the 60th anniversary of the beekeepers’ association. These medals were presented to local government authorities and all the beekeepers.
The Bolesławiec association was founded in 1954 by Aleksandra Juchniewicz, who remains a member and attended the anniversary meeting. The Bolesławiec Regional Association of the Beekeepers’ Association of the Legnica Area has 93 beekeepers and more than 1,800 bee colonies.
