The Istotne.pl publishing house, BOK-MCC, co-organizer, and the author invite you to a special evening promoting the fairy tale “Garbuska”: the story of a hunchbacked girl who decided to find a witch who could grant all wishes in order to punish her own parents.

The illustrations for “Garbuska” were created by Anna Chaberek, whom Istotne.pl readers know from the portal’s gallery, where she publishes her work under the nickname: Malarstwo Anna.

Anna Chaberek was born in Zielona Góra and lived in Bolesławiec. In 2007, she completed her painting diploma in Piotr Błażejewski’s studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, receiving a very good grade. The subject of her diploma was an imagined landscape. The painter now lives in Stafford, United Kingdom, where she runs a small gallery and actively participates every year in the “Open Art” exhibition at Shire Hall Galery.

The special guest at the promotion will be Anna Choińska, a “Reconciliation with Parents according to Prekop” therapist, teacher, and translator.

The promotion will take place on Thursday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m., at CIK Orzeł, F. Chopina Street. Admission is free. The book will be available for sale at the promotional price of 12 zlotys.

Grażyna Hanaf thanks the patron of the gallery, Bolesławiec City Center, the first shopping center in Bolesławiec to meet the highest European standards, a place combining a wide range of retail, dining, entertainment, and cultural offerings.

Reviews of the fairy tale

“Garbuska is a journey from Source to Source, which each of us can take in order to return transformed. By reading this fairy tale, we can set out on a journey and find what is most important in life.”
Anna Choińska

“Garbuska is a moving and absorbing fairy tale about the pursuit of experiencing love. It is also an inspiring story about searching for oneself and about people who—if we allow them to—will help us on our way toward our goal, comfort us, and support us. The entire journey we are to undertake serves to help us understand that we are wonderful just as we were born.”
Łukasz Gątnicki
, creator of the “OK, maybe it can be this way!” method

“The fairy tale is a great pleasure to read. It contains a great deal of optimism, even though Garbuska’s life, in her view, was not a period of uninterrupted happiness. The path she took to rediscover herself required effort, but also openness to people and the wisdom to want to learn from them.”
Teresa Rudzińska, director of the Psychological and Educational Counseling Center in Bolesławiec
