The redesigned interiors have brought an atmosphere of homely warmth. The bourgeois traditions of Kowary are now even more palpable in the building. A sense of historical continuity will certainly be created by touching the city’s pre-war telephone directory or leafing through a century-old medical ledger.
On the ground floor, visitors can still admire a collection of postcards depicting pre-war Kowary, while upstairs there is a “miner’s room” with memorabilia belonging to employees of the local mines at that time. The entry hall and rooms display everyday objects from the 20th century. Interesting exhibits include sewing machines from the 1940s and 1960s. As before, works from interesting temporary exhibitions will be displayed on the walls. Currently, visitors can admire a photography exhibition by students from the photography club at the Kowary secondary school, entitled “My World”.
The Kowary Enthusiasts’ Association invites residents and tourists to the building at 1 Górnicza Street. The House of Tradition’s opening hours have not changed. Guided tours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11:00 to 15:00.
