The tragedy occurred on Monday, November 17, in Piechowice (Jelenia Góra County). Preliminary findings by investigators indicate that the 62-year-old Mercedes driver from Szklarska Poręba swerved left while overtaking a Hyundai, attempting to avoid a collision. The car hit a concrete streetlamp pole, and the driver died at the scene.
The Hyundai was driven by a 41-year-old Czech woman. She was detained in police custody.
The police and prosecutor’s office are investigating the causes of the fatal accident.
