Oliwia Ziembikiewicz, representative of KSW “Gladiator” Bolesławiec, took part in the WKF (World Kickboxing Federation) World Championships, held in Prague, Czechia, from November 10 to 15.
Our fighter won the world silver medal, even though the discipline in which she competed (light contact) differs significantly from Thai boxing, which the young athlete trains every day. The main differences are as follows: light contact does not include low kicks below the waist or elbow and knee strikes. Clinching is also prohibited.
None of this prevented our gladiator from winning silver. In her first bout, Oliwia faced a Slovakian opponent. Our fighter defeated her rival in the first round. Her next opponent was Austrian. In the second round, the referee stopped the bout because of Oliwia’s substantial advantage.
In the final, the gladiator faced a Czech opponent who was older and heavier. However, our fighter showed great fighting spirit and contested two closely fought rounds with her rival. Unfortunately, the judges awarded the victory to the Czech competitor.
