The elegant room in the historic building, which now houses the library and was originally built as the headquarters of a Masonic lodge, made a great impression on everyone. Care for the historic details of the magnificent ceiling and the room’s architecture was combined with the modernity of its current function. Renovation, conservation and adaptation work lasted from June to November 2014.
Welcoming the guests, LBP director Anna Gątowska stressed that we were seeing this impressive room, especially its ceiling, in such perfect condition for the first time since 1945. Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski said that the nearly half a million złoty allocated by the city to the library for this purpose, combined with the persistence and commitment of the institution’s employees, had produced a wonderful result.
That evening, participants were shown the latest, XXXV volume of Szkice Legnickie, published by the Society of Friends of Science, as well as the city chronicle for 2013, which can also be viewed on www.legnica.eu.
