Before guests were invited into the newly constructed building, Andrzej Dutkowski, the head of Bolesławiec Municipality, Andrzej Dutkowski, spoke first, addressing above all the residents of Ocice, for whom this place was built.
“I hope that the Community House will be buzzing with life every day,” said the head of the municipality. “The past few years have shown that Ocice is a dynamically active village. Therefore, I am convinced that in the place created for you, you will develop and carry out many more wonderful ideas.”
The time came for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting by the chairperson of the Municipal Council, Bogusław Uziej, Andrzej Dutkowski, Bożena Długosz, the village head of Ocice, and Marek Biegacz, a Municipal Councilor. The keys to the building, which had previously been blessed, were then officially handed over, and the guests were invited inside. Several attractions awaited everyone already in the foyer. Visitors could see three exhibitions: one devoted to the Jan Kukuczka Primary School in Ocice, one referring to the performance “My Bosnia,” and one presenting selected investments by Bolesławiec Municipality from 2010–2014, with particular attention to Ocice.
The local school’s students performed first in the auditorium. There was a poem, songs, and a theatrical performance. The latter showed that the students possessed considerable acting talent and that performing before an audience was no reason for them to feel stressed. The next presentation was given by a group from the “School of Tradition” project of the Kolberg Academy.
The long-awaited members of the “Ocice” Singing Ensemble also appeared. The artists surprised those gathered with an original arrangement of one of their songs. In it, they thanked the village head, the municipal authorities, and everyone who contributed to the creation of the Community House. Their performance was rewarded with loud applause.
It was also time for the evening’s star, the Chrząszcze band. Those who decided to spend Saturday evening in Ocice certainly did not regret it. Chrząszcze is one of the best-known and most popular bands in Poland, performing music from the 1960s. The band members have fully earned that reputation. Almost everyone knows the greatest hits of The Beatles, The Shadows, and Czerwone Gitary, so there was no shortage of singing. There were also plenty of people dancing the twist. The opening of the Community House ended with a dance party.
The organizers of the official opening of the Community House in Ocice were the Head of Bolesławiec Municipality, Andrzej Dutkowski, the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyn, and the Ocice Village Organizing Committee.
