The Legnica police duty officer received information about the driver of a Volkswagen Passat who was driving across the entire width of the motorway and cutting off other drivers. It turned out that the man had already passed Legnica and was approaching Chojnów, still driving “from the hard shoulder to the barrier separating the two lanes of traffic.”
The man was detained in Osetnica. It turned out that the 33-year-old resident of Leszno was completely drunk. At the time of his arrest, he had almost three per mille of alcohol in his system, for which he faces up to 2 years in prison. However, the officers do not rule out that the man could be held responsible for creating a risk of disaster in land traffic. In that case, he could be imprisoned for as many as 8 years.
