They were installed on the roofs of buildings in the city center and in the Piekary housing estate. As part of the modernization of the public warning and alarm system, the project was financed by the city at a cost of PLN 60,000.
An electronic siren is a new-generation alarm device consisting of a control unit and speaker modules. It also has a backup power supply that ensures the device can operate for up to two weeks. Compared with rotary sirens, the advantages of electronic sirens include the ability to transmit live voice messages or fixed (recorded) voice messages and sound signals, combine any sounds into so-called macros, low operating costs, and high resistance to adverse weather conditions.
Both electronic and rotary sirens are controlled by a multisystem base station located at the District Crisis Management Center for the City of Legnica. Let us recall that an electronic siren has been operating in the Kopernika housing estate for two years.
