Kliczków is a village located in the Osiecznica municipality. Before World War II, it was known by the German name Klitschdorf. The first historical information about the locality can be found in works by 19th-century German historians, and concerns a settlement from the 13th century.
A school, mill and iron forge were probably established here in the 15th century. In 1830, a post office was built in the settlement, and in 1879 it obtained a telegraph connection with Bolesławiec.
In the second half of the 19th century, a pharmacy founded by Gottlob Kubale was established, and in the 1870s a bathing establishment for people suffering from rheumatism was opened in the locality.
Kliczków is home to the impressive Church of the Three Kings, probably founded by Duchess Anna. The first mentions of the church, located near the castle, date from 1305. The church is a 15th-century building with a beautiful wooden side epitaph founded by the Rechemberg family, as well as a stone baptismal font dating from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries.
Modern-day Kliczków is home to around 350 people, and the locality is famous for its castle and horse cemetery, whose history I will present next week.
