Automotive experts call this company “a Formula 1 car in the industry”. During a meeting with CEO Mirosław Suchojad, the mayor discussed the company’s development plans and important municipal investments that also concern VOSS.
The latest investment, carried out by the company at a cost of approximately PLN 50 million, included expanding the plant, introducing additional products and changing the production process. A new facility with an area of 12,000 square metres was built, a new production line was purchased and the infrastructure was expanded. As a result, employment increased. The company currently employs around 800 people, compared with more than 560 a year ago. Further employment growth is planned; according to CEO Suchojad, the workforce is expected to reach around 1,000 employees in the coming years.
CEO Mirosław Suchojad recalled that the plant was located in the LSSE because Legnica offers many advantages. Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski added that, apart from the zone, there are other highly attractive investment areas in the city, including the airport. There is a strong possibility that further investors will take an interest in them.
They also discussed an investment of great importance to the city’s needs: the continued construction of the south-eastern bypass. Several years ago, with the support of European Union funds, the city completed its first stage. Gniewomierska Street, costing approximately PLN 18 million, was built up to the city limits. It provides access to this part of the economic zone, but demand is greater, which is important both for city residents and for companies operating in the Legnickie Pole subzone of the LSSE. During commuting and leaving-work hours, traffic jams sometimes form on the road.
The mayor announced that the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways had recently decided to include the expansion of this bypass in the programme concept as part of the new route of national road no. 94. This creates an opportunity to finance construction of the missing section of the bypass from the state budget, something the local-government head has been advocating for many years.
The mayor and the CEO toured the plant, which employs people from Legnica and nearby towns. Tadeusz Krzakowski asked about the working and leisure conditions of the staff. He congratulated the company on establishing a research and development team that carries out design work to improve existing products and participates in increasingly advanced development work on future projects. These will be opportunities for young, educated specialists from Legnica.
VOSS Automotive has operated in the LSSE for 10 years. The company mainly produces electrically and coolant-heated lines for catalytic exhaust-gas reduction, lines for pneumatic vehicle suspension systems, brake and control-system lines, and fuel lines, which it supplies to customers in the European Union, the Americas and Asia. They are used by leading manufacturers of trucks, delivery vans, passenger cars and off-road.
