The Bolesławiec convention lasted two days. Participants could not complain about a lack of attractions. Among other things, a Harry Potter quiz and a Vampire card game tournament were held. Films were shown in the evening, while at night the participants played “dramas”, that is, role-playing games in the form of plays. Despite this, many participants would not have given the convention the highest rating. The people were somewhat disappointing. Many who had promised to come did not arrive because—as the organisers explained—the Olympic Games in Athens won out.

What is RPG?

RPG (from the English Role-Playing Games) are role-playing games. They have enjoyed unwavering popularity for a long time. Enthusiasts consider them an exceptionally intelligent form of entertainment, combining elements of traditional board games and theatre. Indeed, games often lasting many hours can be highly spectacular.

Only two players are needed to start a game, although four people is the most convenient arrangement. One player becomes the Game Master, who is, in practice, the most important person. Above all, they are the director and scriptwriter of the entire game, whose decisions are final and indisputable. They determine the course of the whole game, which follows a previously prepared scenario. It is almost always based on fantasy, most often drawing on popular novels in the genre, including the works of Sapkowski and Tolkien. Appropriate music is an important element—it is played at the right moment and creates a unique atmosphere.
