Last week, workshops entitled “Mapping Out Bicycle Paths in the Bogatynia Municipality” were held at the “Górnik” school in Bogatynia. The event, initiated by Deputy County Head Mariusz Tureniec, was attended by cycling enthusiasts affiliated with the Society of Friends of the Bogatynia Region, as well as members of associations interested in developing and promoting the tourist attractions of their localities, such as Jasna Góra and Działoszyn.

The workshops were also attended by young people from the ZSZ vocational school, studying tourism services at technical school level, as well as the school’s deputy head Piotr Ernest. The meeting resulted in 60 km of bicycle paths being mapped out. The sections from Bogatynia to Sieniawka, which would connect to the German path network, and from Bogatynia to the mine and power plant were identified as the most urgent to build.

As Mariusz Tureniec emphasized, the new EU funding period offers an opportunity to co-finance the construction of tourism infrastructure which will not only create attractive conditions for sport and recreation for local residents, but, as in other regions, will also stimulate economic development, including catering services and accommodation.
