A Bolesławiec resident Tomek Wachnowski performed on Polsat’s “Must Be the Music” on Sunday. He played and sang his song “Gdybym był”. Kora did not like the performance.
“Mr Wachnowski, I gave you a ‘no’ because this is a kind of pseudo-blues, poorly sung in my opinion and uninteresting. You did not capture my attention,” said Kora. She added: “I have a lot of sympathy for you, but I simply did not like it. People have listened to this blues since childhood and…”
“And it is rare to meet people who have such sincerity and truth, despite being of such an advanced age…” interjected the second judge, Piotr Rogucki.
“No, Piotruś, it is common to meet people who have truth in them and play blues nicely,” Kora argued. “This is actually a fairly well-established musical genre in Poland. In reality, there are many people of every age who play and love it. You, Mr Wachnowski, love it, but to me you do not demonstrate a sufficient level to receive a ‘yes’. But you received three ‘yes’ votes, which is a lot.”
The other judges disagreed with Kora.
“I really liked what you did and the way you sang. Both the composition and the lyrics—congratulations,” said Elżbieta Zapendowska.
“The composition perhaps convinced me the least, but there was clearly a sense of professionalism. You can hear the years you have spent on stage. And something like that makes me happy when this professionalism is used in this way, because it can be different. I liked it very much; it was tasteful,” commented Adam Sztaba.
