– This celebration is especially significant for our school. It brings back memories, but also prompts us to take stock and reflect on how the school functions. A great deal has changed over the past 50 years: the school’s equipment, fields of study, types of schools, work organisation, and even its name. However, what is most important has remained to this day: our approach to students, who are always seen as individuals surrounded by care and understanding – says Ewa Janiszewska, headteacher of Zespół Szkół Ponadgimnazjalnych in Rudna.
After all the guests had been welcomed, a film and photographs summarising the school’s 50-year history were shown. Current and former employees, as well as the school’s founder, Zdzisław Bergier, who is privately the father of the current headteacher, Ewa Janiszewska, appear in it. The memories featured in the film and the years when the school was still in its early stages stirred powerful emotions in everyone, and even moved some of the guests.
On the occasion of the school’s 50th anniversary, a commemorative plaque was unveiled. It was funded by KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., the Hydrotechnical Works in Rudna, and was immediately consecrated by Bishop Marek Mendyk.
The Lubin County starosta, Adam Myrda, and the chairman of the County Council, Krystian Kosztyła, also offered their thanks to the headteacher and the entire teaching staff.
– Fifty years of the school’s existence certainly means hundreds of graduates who later had the opportunity to pursue higher education. All this was made possible by wonderful teachers who passed on to these younger generations the best thing they have: knowledge. In addition to imparting knowledge, you also teach young people the difficult art of coping with everyday life. I wish myself, and you as well, many more such wonderful anniversaries – says Adam Myrda.
Władysław Bigus, head of Rudna Municipality, also presented Ewa Janiszewska with thanks and congratulations on the occasion of such a wonderful anniversary. He was deeply impressed both by the school’s work and by the organisation of the celebration, which he also sponsored.
Both the Lubin County starosta and the head of Rudna Municipality received commemorative glass statuettes for their assistance and support for the school. Thanks and congratulations came from all directions. The school and its employees, as well as the institutions supporting its work, were thanked. The ceremony was also an opportunity to thank former employees, headteachers and the school’s founder for their contributions, thanks to which the school operates and continues to develop today.
The celebration was enhanced by an artistic programme performed by the school’s students.
