Works by Magdalena Konieczna and her 40 students are being presented at the Format Gallery of the Municipal Public Library. The youngest artist is 4 years old. The students attend classes at the Textile and Painting Studio and the Printmaking and Youth Drawing Studio of the Youth Cultural Centre. In addition to traditional painting techniques (tempera, watercolour and pastel), they learn new ones: batik, patchwork and textile printing. In graphic art, they create linocuts and plaster prints, and learn the secrets of planographic and intaglio printing, as well as the basics of composition and design. They also produce applied graphic art: ex libris designs, posters, illustrations and advertising materials.
Magdalena Konieczna is from Bolesławiec. She was born in 1975. She graduated from the Faculty of Art of the Higher School of Education in Częstochowa. She received her diploma from the printmaking studio in 1999. In 2002, she completed postgraduate studies in journalism and public relations at the University of Wrocław. She works in painting, graphic art and photography.
The exhibition will be open until 17 March. The works presented at the exhibition are available for purchase. The proceeds from the sales will be used to organise an outdoor art workshop for children.
