The work will involve replacing the worn-out asphalt surface of the bus bay with a new, more durable concrete surface. A new concrete-paver sidewalk will also be laid around the bus stop. A new traffic organization will be introduced in this area for the duration of the reconstruction (we will provide information about the changes once they are approved). This project is being carried out as part of preparations for the next stage of the reconstruction of Piłsudskiego Avenue.
Let us recall the earlier stages of the reconstruction of this important artery. Carriageways with a total length of approximately 1.5 kilometers were renovated. New sidewalks were built, and four bus bays were reconstructed using durable concrete technology. As part of these projects, the stormwater and sanitary sewer systems were modernized, and conduits were also built for the future municipal Legman internet network. Earlier, the viaduct, along with Sudecka Street as far as Koskowicka Street, had been renovated.
Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski emphasizes that the reconstruction of Piłsudskiego Avenue is planned as a logical consequence of modernizing the entire transport artery connecting the city center with the largest residential districts and also improving access to the specialist hospital.
As part of this concept, in previous years Libana Street together with Wilson Square, Wrocławska Street, II Armii Wojska Polskiego Street with its intersection with Moniuszki Street, Piłsudskiego Avenue and Rzeczypospolitej Street were reconstructed. This year, the work is being carried out on Witelona Street and Skarbka Street. The next stage will be the modernization of Sikorskiego Street as far as Iwaszkiewicza Street.
