The recently concluded Polish Senior Taekwondo Championships, held in Bolesławiec, saw LMKS Gladius athlete Paulina Stojanowska win a silver medal and the title of Polish senior women’s vice-champion in the under-46 kg category. It is our athlete’s second, but most important, medal this year; Paulina is already a youth vice-champion of Poland.

It should be emphasized that both medals were won in her first year competing in both age categories, which bodes well for the future performances of coach Mariusz Sulma’s trainee.

The other Gladius representative competing in this prestigious event, Kamil Serafin, unfortunately lost his first bout in the under-74 kg category to an athlete from Warsaw and was eliminated from further competition.

The Polish Senior Championships themselves were a major undertaking in Bolesławiec. Thanks to the Bolesławiec Municipal Commune and the sponsors, it was possible to organize an event of this scale in our city for the first time.

During the final gala, held on Saturday evening, Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman was awarded the Bronze Badge of the Polish Olympic Taekwondo Association by POTA President Artur Chmielarz—among other things, for his contribution to the development of the discipline both in the city and in the region.

The mayor, in turn, presented the POTA president with commemorative awards featuring promotional elements of the City of Ceramics. In addition to the championships’ host, Piotr Roman, the athletes on the podium were also presented with awards by visiting guests, including Deputy Mayor Kornel Filipowicz, as well as the provincial marshal, the Bolesławiec county head, representatives of the uniformed services and sponsor representatives.

In the overall standings of the 33rd Polish Senior Taekwondo Championships, the AZS AWF Warszawa team emerged victorious, taking the largest number of medals in the individual categories back to the capital.
