The project was implemented under the Operational Programme Cross-Border Cooperation Poland – Saxony 2007–2013, Priority Axis 2 – Cross-Border Social Integration, Area of Support 1 – Education and Training, Action Direction 2 – Cross-Border Educational Projects.
The project included:
- a sports complex at the General Secondary School in Bogatynia: a multifunctional sports field, a football pitch, a four-lane running track, a long-jump pit with associated infrastructure (pavements, stands, a changing-room building with sanitary facilities), monitoring and fencing
- a sports facility at the Vocational and General Secondary School Complex in Zgorzelec: a multifunctional sports field, a perimeter running track, a long-jump pit, a shot-put area, an outdoor gym, stands and a changing-room and sanitary facilities complex.
In addition, equipment was purchased for the open-air sports facilities, along with sound equipment, baskets and benches, as well as promotional gadgets for event participants.
Construction work is currently under way on the football pitch at the Vocational and General Secondary School Complex in Zgorzelec.
Sports competitions and fitness events were organised at the sports complex in Bogatynia with the participation of the project partners, local borderland residents and non-governmental organisations:
- General Secondary School in Bogatynia and Joliot Curie Gymnasium (11 Polish-German sports events, a binational sports camp)
- Vocational School Complex in Bogatynia and HSG Turbine Zittau (7 Polish-German sports events)
- Sports and Recreation Centre in Bogatynia and HSG Turbine Zittau (6 Polish-German sports events).
The total value of the project is nearly EUR 725,000, while EU funding amounts to more than EUR 616,000.
