The Day Care Home is a day-support centre providing assistance to older and lonely people who require such help because of their age, illness or disability. The facility helps seniors maintain the good mental and physical condition necessary for living independently for as long as possible—that is, remaining in their own homes and communities. Here, seniors can continue their intellectual development, maintain physical fitness and engage in various interpersonal relationships.
As part of the activities at the DDP, special events, events promoting a healthy lifestyle, recreational activities, talks and lectures, tourist excursions—including trips abroad—and holiday and anniversary gatherings are organised, taking traditions and customs into account.
International Day of Older Persons is observed on 1 October and provides a good opportunity to draw attention to the problems faced by older people and promote equal participation in social life.
