The celebration was organized as a way of thanking families for their dedication and for raising children who have suffered misfortune. Unfortunately, the number of children in need of care increases every year in Zgorzelec County, while foster families are in short supply.
During the outdoor event, participants took part in many attractions. The children enjoyed interactive activities. Everyone could try their hand at being an acrobat. For food enthusiasts, baking flatbreads with honey and preserves was a real treat. Those with a sweet tooth made cookies with wonderful and delicious toppings, as well as amazing, colorful plates.
PCPR employees taught participants how to make beautiful ornaments, jugs and quirky animal figures; everyone created whatever their imagination suggested. The ceramics workshops attracted enthusiasts of functional art. Two ponies brought the children plenty of joy during rides. The youngest participants had their hair decorated with elaborate, colorful braids, while face paints and temporary tattoos allowed everyone to become a superhero or animal of their choice.
A playground and a land of fairy tales and legends awaited the youngest children. Older participants tried their hand at the shooting range, learning to use an air rifle and a bow. And since the event was held in a Native American village, everyone could feel like a real Native American, enter a tipi and sit by the fire. The biggest hit was a music workshop featuring unusual folk instruments, rarely seen percussion instruments and loudly resonating drums.
However, the raffle held at the end of the event aroused the greatest excitement. The lucky participants won a mountain bike, a microwave oven, 2 juicers, 2 deep fryers, 3 tablets, a camera and a sandwich toaster. The raffle was made possible thanks to the support of county governor Artur Bieliński.
The safety of the children was supervised by students from the emergency-response class at the ZSZiL named after the Miners and Energy Workers of Turów in Zgorzelec.
This enjoyable combination of entertainment and education was made possible thanks to the support of many well-wishers, including Eltur-Serwis president Jan Wędzonka; Grażyna Smaś-Grudzińska, director of MDK in Zgorzelec; Waldemar Woźniak together with the emergency-response class from the “Górnik” school in Zgorzelec; Jakub Chromik; Wioleta Świątek; Agnieszka Brzuzko; Aleksandra Zielińska; Wioleta Matysiak; Agnieszka Oziomek; Agata Trześniewska; scouts from the ZHP Zgorzelec and Lubań divisions; Andrzej Antoszczyk; Robert Zarzecki of Citronex; Danuta Reut; Dorota Święcicka of Kindergarten No. 2 in Zgorzelec; Dorota Klarycz; Jacek Kadłubicki; Krzysztof Kaczmarczyk; Magda Nogieć; Sylwester Tomczak; and Zgorzelec County governor Artur Bieliński.
