BKS Bobrzanie Bolesławiec players performed poorly in their second away match of the season. The 1–3 defeat to Nysa Zgorzelec is even more painful because the style of play presented by our team left much to be desired. The numerous turnovers and inaccurate passes could have been enough to fill several football matches. Despite this, for a moment it seemed there was a chance to bring a more favorable result back from Zgorzelec.

The match began better for Nysa Zgorzelec, whose players attacked the BKS goal with great energy. Fortunately, Rafał Mazur was in good form in goal that day and, with several good saves, rescued the entire team. Unfortunately, the hosts’ attacks paid off in the 25th minute, when Grzegorz Monik scored with a header from a tight angle following a corner.

The conceded goal spurred our team into action. We spent more time in the opponents’ half, creating chances to equalize. In the 36th minute, Piotr Dzięgleski came close, but his header went just wide of the post. Dzięgleski produced another fine shot in the first half, but Nysa’s goalkeeper was in position.

The opening stages of the second half belonged to BKS, who were determined to make up the deficit. As a result of our team’s improved play, we managed to score the equalizer. In the 52nd minute, after BKS worked a free kick well, Daniel Dudkiewicz put the ball into Nysa’s net to make it 1–1. Unfortunately, eight minutes later Nysa regained the lead.

The referee judged that Dudkiewicz had fouled a home player in the penalty area and awarded Nysa a penalty, which was converted. Marcin Monik scored. After conceding the second goal, BKS put everything into attack and increased the pressure on the hosts’ goal. This allowed Nysa to launch several counterattacks, one of which they converted into a goal, scored by Marek Borowy. Rafał Mazur made excellent saves on the other occasions and was BKS’s brightest performer in the match.

The defeat is even more painful because Nysa Zgorzelec did not exactly play dazzling football; they simply made fewer mistakes and circulated the ball better. BKS performed well below their capabilities, and hopefully the entire team will learn from this defeat. That must happen as quickly as possible, because on Saturday the leaders from Polkowice will come to Spółdzielcza.
