In June, the authorities of the town and municipality of Węgliniec purchased and installed six bus stops in five localities. Since then, the panes, which are highly resistant to mechanical damage, have been targeted by vandals. On 26 August, the last one was smashed—the one in Jagodzin.
The Węgliniec municipal office website states: “It is difficult to understand the vandals’ motives for systematically destroying the new bus stops. It is to be hoped that police action will lead to the perpetrators of the damage being identified.”
The perpetrators could face a sentence of up to five years in prison.
