The poster is filled with a black background, alongside the “Blues nad Bobrem” logo featuring two mirror images of photographs of outstretched hands. The hands shown in the photographs are arranged in a gesture that is a modified version of the symbol signifying Satan.
The original form of this sign is a hand with the second and fifth fingers extended, while the remaining fingers are bent and pressed against the palm by the thumb. The arrangement of the fingers resembles a goat’s head with horns, a symbol representing Satan that, in synthetic form, corresponds to a downward-pointing pentagram.
The gestures on the poster for the “Blues nad Bobrem” concert differ from the original sign of Satan only in the thumb being positioned more loosely. Such distorted gestures are often encountered in youth culture, especially among fans of various music genres in which demonic strands occur. It often happens that young people using this gesture do not know its origins or meaning at all, but use it because it is fashionable.
Apparently, the poster designers also do not know the origins and meaning of the symbol of Satan; they carelessly used the photographs without considering what associations they might evoke. The posters bearing the name of Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury, the concert organizer, have already been printed and put up around the city.
