At the beginning of 2013, the authorities of Bolesławiec County began seeking funds to reimburse the costs of a major county investment—the construction of a Vocational Education Centre, including the modernization of school workshops at the Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych in Bolesławiec. The funds were found through savings generated under the Poland-Saxony Cross-Border Cooperation Operational Programme 2007–2013.
From May 2013, a team of County Office officials worked on developing the project concept and documentation. Thanks to good cooperation with Bautzen County, it was possible to quickly and efficiently sign the project partnership agreement, and the application was accepted.
On 7 July this year, Bolesławiec County signed a project funding agreement with the Saxon Development Bank (SAB), enabling reimbursement of 85% of the investment costs and the educational workshops for students from Poland and Germany. By 2015, approximately 2.7 million złoty will be transferred to the County budget.
As part of the project, joint Polish-German educational workshops for students of the Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych in Bolesławiec and BSZ in Radeberg will be held in September 2014. Then, in October, a cross-border conference summarizing the partners’ joint achievements will be organized. The project will be completed by the end of 2014.
