Every moment in life is a good time to gain knowledge, learn new skills and develop your interests. That is why, responding to the expectations of the regional labour market, Uczelnia Zawodowa Zagłębia Miedziowego w Lubinie, in consultation with Employers, has prepared an offer covering many new fields of education for the upcoming academic year. In the 2014/2015 academic year, the Lubin-based university is conducting summer recruitment for first- and second-cycle studies. Recruitment for postgraduate studies continues throughout the year and is also conducted in the winter semester.
Become a BACHELOR
This year's bachelor's degree programme undoubtedly offers a very diverse and extensive range of specialisations to choose from. In the Pedagogy programme, students can choose from such fields of study as: Preschool and Early School Education, Rehabilitation and Sociotherapy, Technical and Information Technology Education (new), or Assistant for a Person with a Disability (new). In the Management programme, prospective students can choose from such new specialisations as: Marketing, Managerial Logistics and Trade Management. The Lubin-based university has also retained its already proven specialisations: Human Resources Management as well as Accounting and Financial Management.
Become an ENGINEER
People with a technical inclination and an interest in mining and geology or management and production engineering also have plenty to choose from. UZZM offers two engineering fields, including six specialisations. This year's new specialisation in Mining and Geology is Copper Ore Deposit Mining. Applicants can also apply for specialisations that have enjoyed popularity for many years, namely: Mining Machines and Equipment and Deposit Mining Techniques. The Management and Production Engineering programme allows candidates to choose between Occupational Safety Engineering and Production Process Engineering. Quality Systems Management is a new option.
It is worth emphasising that during first-cycle studies, most classes are held in small groups and take the form of training sessions, projects or workshops, providing an opportunity to acquire additional skills and competences.
Become a MASTER'S GRADUATE
For those who have completed first-cycle studies, the Lubin-based university offers managerial master's degree studies (second-cycle studies) in Management. These are unique studies on a Polish scale, as they are oriented towards a practical profile. After the first semester, students will be able to choose one of the following specialisations or continue their studies without choosing a specialisation: Management in Industry, Human Resources Management, Management in Administration, Quality and Environmental Management, and General Management Specialisation.
The programme is intended for people who want to acquire managerial skills and useful knowledge. The curriculum is based on an original programme closely consulted with the Region's Employers. Students have the opportunity to confront the knowledge they acquire with the realities of companies, including through professional placements.
Study in POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
UZZM particularly encourages university graduates (at least first-cycle graduates) who want to continue developing their knowledge and skills to take advantage of its extensive postgraduate study offer. Classes are taught by academic staff from renowned universities and top-class specialist practitioners. Small class groups have a positive effect on teaching effectiveness and enable the use of active teaching methods, as well as the exchange of ideas and opinions between students and lecturers. You can choose from pedagogical, technical (including occupational health and safety) and social fields.
– Our university provides education with a strong focus on a practical profile, complemented by theoretical reflection, which must not be forgotten either – says Stanisław A. Witkowski, Rector of Uczelnia Zawodowa Zagłębia Miedziowego w Lubinie. – We take training sessions, simulations, laboratories and placements seriously in order to prepare our graduates to solve specific problems. It is not an achievement merely to know ten theories of motivation; the real achievement is to implement them effectively in practice. In addition, we develop universal competences that are important “here and now” but will also matter in the future, because the rapidly changing reality of today requires each of us to be “one step ahead”. This is precisely why we try to guide our students, because a vocational university, as its name suggests, has a practical profile written into its mission – concludes the UZZM Rector.
Recruitment has already begun and will continue until mid-September or until the limit of places is reached. There are no entrance examinations – applications are considered in the order they are received.
