Tomaszów Bolesławiecki is a beautiful village located along the former royal route known as “Via Regia”. Before World War II, the settlement bore the German name Thomaswaldau. From 1975 to 1998, the settlement administratively belonged to Legnica Voivodeship, and since 1999 it has belonged to Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
The village has two churches. St. Hedwig’s Church, whose interior is decorated with Baroque figures and oil paintings, was built in the 16th century. Around the church are 19th-century burial chapels.
St. Anthony’s Church was, before World War II, a place of worship for Evangelicals. The first church building was erected in 1558 and was subsequently rebuilt after a fire in 1785. After Polish families settled in the area in 1945, the church was used only occasionally.
Tomaszów Bolesławiecki is a village with an interesting history and beautiful buildings.
