During the exercise, which has been ongoing since 12 May, more than 250 soldiers from all subunits of the 2nd Tank Battalion, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Jarosław Górowski, as well as 9 National Reserve Forces soldiers participating in rotational training, completed field training based on the training facilities of OSPWL Żagań–Świętoszów. The main effort of the tank subunits was directed toward carrying out platoon training subject blocks.
“The primary objective of the field training was, above all, to assess the platoon commanders and the subunits they commanded, as well as their ability to plan, organize and conduct training under field conditions, particularly while conducting tactical operations at night,” said Lieutenant Colonel Górowski. “Furthermore, as part of the field training, the level of gunnery training of the tank company was assessed through live-fire exercises from the Leopard 2A4 tank, using both live ammunition and a laser firing simulator during B-2 firing exercises, by day and by night.”
Part of the field training was conducted by the armored troops using the AGDUS system, which enables tank platoon training without live fire. “Laser firing” before live-fire exercises not only reduces training costs, but also makes training more efficient and safer.
The support subunits, the command company (kdow) and the logistics company (klog) conducted activities based at the Trzebień camp and ensured the operation of the battalion undergoing training away from its permanent station (MSD).
The field training conducted using the training facilities of OSPWL Żagań–Świętoszów produced the expected results. The training levels of the platoons and platoon commanders were confirmed during the field training, particularly during the conduct of tactical operations—both by day and by night.
