The FIFA 14 tournament on six PS3 consoles took place on 23 May at the Janusz Korczak II Secondary School in Bolesławiec. The competition was intended for middle-school and upper-secondary school students. The idea of organizing the tournament came from Korneliusz Rzeźwicki together with his classmates from II LO: Piotr Bodzioch, Szymon Pałka, Rafał Górniak and Marcin Pyszczyński.
More than 60 students from our city and surrounding areas entered the competition. Each participant drew a number and a place in the bracket and played a match on one of the six consoles. The result of each match was recorded on a publicly accessible scoreboard (if you lose your match, you are eliminated).
Every player took the task very seriously, and already in the first few minutes one could hear cries of joy after goals were scored and moments of despair after goals conceded. The organizers promised attractive prizes and, as it turned out, they were not making empty promises. The Parents’ Council allocated nearly PLN 300 for prizes for the top three places, while Sony supported the tournament by sending computer-game-related gadgets.
The tournament was won by Piotr Rajczakowski, who defeated Olaf Kaleta in the final. Piotr won the champion’s title, a trophy and the main prize: PLN 100 and a T-shirt. Piotr Bodzioch took third place. The tournament can definitely be considered a success, and all that remains is to wait for the next edition.
