Organized for ten years, the festival provides an opportunity to learn more about the history and culture of families whose ancestors came to the Bolesławiec area from the Balkans.
Saturday was devoted to thematic workshops. In many locations in Gmina Bolesławiec, participants could learn the secrets of Balkan cuisine. Dance and vocal workshops were very popular, as evidenced by the joyful singing during the second day of the Festa. The joint feast of the residents of Bolesławice and the many guests who arrived showed the character of Sunday’s celebration. People danced to Balkan music, particularly that of the Beograd ensemble, until late in the evening.
The Tenth Balkan Festa, dedicated to the late former initiator of the event and manager of the Jutrzenka Song and Dance Ensemble Albinowi Kuleszy, was attended, among others, by Senator Jan Michalski, Member of Parliament Małgorzata Sekuła-Szmajdzińska, Bolesławiec County Head Dariusz Kwaśniewski and the event’s host – Andrzej Dutkowski, Head of Gmina Bolesławiec.
