The festival was inaugurated on Saturday, June 6, with the ceremonial unveiling of a commemorative plaque by the community hall in Bolesławice – a tribute to the repatriates who arrived 80 years ago from the former Yugoslavia, becoming a permanent part of the history of the local community. Later, as tradition dictates, the artistic and culinary programme began on the pitch next to the community hall and on the stage.
The evening’s headline act was “Bojmija” from North Macedonia, joined by Kraków-based “Iglika” and local folk groups. A special event was the performance “WRACAMY” by the “Ziemi Bolesławieckiej” Song and Dance Ensemble – a show referring to the theme of repatriation.
The organizers also prepared demonstrations and workshops on Balkan cuisine, traditional games and activities for children and adults, the “MOJE DRZEWO” competition, exhibitions, photographs and a tourist train operating throughout the event. The evening ended with a dance party open to everyone.
The event was organized by Gmina Bolesławiec, the Bolesławice Village Organizing Committee and the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury i Sportu w Bolesławcu, based in Kruszyna.
