During the Lower Silesian Athletics Championships, the boys’ team from Gimnazjum Samorządowe nr 2 in Bolesławiec won the Swedish relay and qualified for the Polish Championships in Łódź, which will take place in two weeks.
After a fierce contest with teams from across the voivodeship, the relay team finished first (with a time of 2:08.35 s). The relay team consisted of: Joel Kusiciel – 100 m, Piotr Gadziński – 200 m, Kacper Popławski – 300 m, Mateusz Tofil – 400 m.
This is already the third relay team from GS 2 in the last five years to take part in the Polish Relay Championships. The team’s greatest success so far was the girls’ 4x100 m relay team’s third-place finish nationally in 2010.
As a team, the boys from GS 2 finished second in Lower Silesia. The following athletes won medals at the Lower Silesian Championships:
- Mateusz Tofil – gold medal in the 110 m hurdles (14.94 s)
- Kacper Popławski – silver medal in the 300 m hurdles (42.06 s)
- Tobiasz Burzyński – silver medal in the 2,000 m (6:11 s)
- Dominik Stec – bronze medal in the javelin throw (52.68 m).
