On 17 May, the renovated building of the Ceramics Department, together with its garden, will also be opened to visitors for the first time. The exhibition rooms have been arranged in a modern way, and multimedia presentations, games and films provide additional attractions. The room devoted to European ceramics has also been modernised.

Interactive stations and educational activities have been prepared for the youngest visitors. In addition, visitors will be able to receive free copies of the publication “Kasia at the Bolesławiec Vocational Ceramic School”, which presents issues related to stoneware products in an accessible way.

Programme at the building on Kutuzowa Street

At 19:00, Dr Małgorzata Możdżyńska-Nawotka, the exhibition curator, will give a lecture entitled “Makeup, Beauty, Art”, in which she will discuss the ways women have enhanced their beauty throughout history. The lecture will be accompanied by a multimedia presentation.

At 19:30, a makeup presentation inspired by the art of the 1920s and 1930s will begin, performed by Alicja Konon-Patera and Agnieszka Górna from the Makeup Studio.

At 20:15, in an interior specially arranged for the occasion and accompanied by music played from gramophone records, outfits modelled on clothing from 1910–1960 will be presented. During the show, the individual elements of the models’ outfits will be discussed. The project was carried out in cooperation with Bożena Jędrzejczyk, Barbara Delimat, Danuta Maślicka, Sabina Hil and Johanna Kutschera, as well as Stanisław Pieliński, owner of the Private Collection of Historic Radio Technology and Related Equipment “Radio Retro”.

From 20:45, Johanna Kutschera and Sabina Hil will present jewellery of their own making, crafted from felt, metal and precious stones. During the meeting, visitors will be able to learn about the techniques and methods used to make handicrafts and see the process of creating jewellery. An attraction, not only for the youngest visitors, will be the opportunity to try on outfits and accessories: hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, handbags and more. This will make it possible to experience the true charm of times gone by.
